Our long tradition obliges

The Waicher-Bauer

As early as 1672, a Wolf Schweiger was first mentioned in a document as Waicher-Bauer in Ruhpolding (older sources show, however, that there was already an estate on this site at the end of the 16th century).

At that time, the hereditary farm “Beim Waicherbauer” belonged to the rural municipality of Vachenau with the cathedral chapter of Salzburg as landlord. During secularisation, the estates that belonged to the Salzburg Cathedral Chapter were transferred to the ownership of the owners. In 1882, the rural communities of Zell, Vachenau and Ruhpolding were merged to form the unified community of Ruhpolding. In 1886, many farmers had to cede considerable parts of their forest estates to the Royal Bavarian State Forestry Administration. Many rights of use date back to this time and still exist today in their original form.

Climate Neutral Holiday

In times of “Fridays for Future”, even we as a family business cannot avoid questioning our own impact on the climate. Tourism in its many forms makes a not insignificant contribution to CO2 emissions worldwide. We do our best to keep the impact on the environment as low as possible by building our chalets close to nature, heating our buildings with wood-based woodchip heating, using ecological cleaning agents for cleaning and many other measures. Therefore, we have had our carbon footprint analysed by Viabono since 2014. We were able to achieve the very good result of energy efficiency class “A”. We have compensated for the amount of CO2 still produced by donating to the reforestation project “Soddo – community managed reforestation” by CO2 OL.
For 2022/23 we have been repeatedly certified by Viabono with climate efficiency class A. Each overnight stay in our establishment generates only 6.25 kg of CO2. These are compensated by a project in Central America. If you only consider the CO2 emissions for our primary energy demand, this amounts to -1.6 kg.

Your stay with us is climate neutral. An overnight stay with us does not pollute the environment with CO2
